Vida Mix - Cooking instructions

    Our cooking process is designed for convenience—simple steps across all products, with only slight variations. Here’s how to prepare the Vida Mix:

    1. Sauté the Base:

    Heat your favorite oil, butter, or ghee in a deep pot. Add one chopped medium or large tomato and cook until soft and mushy. Optionally, stir in ½ to 1 cup of vegetables—green beans, peas, or finely chopped carrots work especially well.

    2. Add the Mix:

    Pour the contents of The Lentil Hub container into the tomato mixture. Sauté for 2–3 minutes on medium heat, allowing the spices to bloom.

    3. Add Water & Cook:

    Use the empty jar to measure water (see chart below). Start with the lower end of the suggested water amount and add more if needed. Cover and cook (medium-high heat works well) until the lentils are soft & well-blended. Give it a taste and add more salt if desired.

    Tip:

    Add more water and simmer longer to adjust to your preferred consistency. Optionally, garnish with fresh lime juice, sour cream or plain yogurt if desired.

    Note: For your first time, we recommend cooking the whole jar—it makes 4/5 servings and keeps in the fridge for up to a week or can be frozen. You can also cook in 2 portions—just shake the jar well to evenly distribute spices and reduce water accordingly. A 5-6 Quart pot works well for the cooking the whole jar.
